Running On Empty

http://www.clark.net/silhan/roe-13.htm

I’m one of six co-authors on song #13, The Beat Goes On. Of course, Paul Silhan did all the music and has all the rights. The other lyrics contributors and I received only free CD’s and credit on the CD covers. I’m really bummed that the lyrics and sample tunes are no longer on the web...so instead of linking to that site, I have to resort to this shameless tooting of my own horn (now that’s a phrase Bill Clinton should never use, eh?).

The songs from Running On Empty:

#1 Everyone Knows It’s Hillary

(sung to the tune of Everyone Knows It’s Wendy)

#2 Perusin’ *

(sung to the tune of Cruisin’ by the Rascals)

#3 Bob Dole Picked Jack

(sung to the tune of My Boyfriend’s Back)

#4 Taxes Keep Piling On My Head*

(sung to the tune of Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head by B.J. Thomas)

#5 Eleanor

(sung to the tune of...duh)

#6 The Shredder*

(sung to the tune of The Letter)

#7 Only Baloney*

(sung to the tune of Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison)

#8 They Debate Tonight

(sung to the tune of ...)

#9 Born Free

(sung to the tune of Born Free by Andy Williams)

#10 Boogie-Woogie Tenor Sax Commander-In-Chief

(sung to the tune of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B)

#11 Funds, Funds, Funds

(sung to the tune of Fun, Fun, Fun by the Beach Boys)

#12 Hold On - I’m Coming (by Ross Perot)

(sung to the tune of Hold On - I Coming

#13 The Beat Goes On*

(sung to the tune of The Beat Goes On by Sonny & Cher)

#14 Hilly-Billy*

(sung to the tune of Wooly-Bully)

* Asterisks mark my personal favorites

As you probably gathered from the Link to the Rush Limbaugh site, these Silhan parody songs and others are played on Rush’s show and they’re available for sale from that site. I get no financial cut, so believe me when I say this is great stuff. Paul is a master at impersonations, vocals and mixing. He plays all the instuments and does all the voices. The melodies are true and you’ll find yourself bopping and toe-tapping along with the music...as good as the original hits. The acoustic guitar and vocals on Taxes Keep Piling On My Head are unbelievable...as well-done as B.J. Thomas and that’s saying something. In The Beat Goes On, Paul does a good impression of Cher in the duet with Sonny Bono.
